What Is the Tomodachi Life Personality Chart?
The Tomodachi Life personality chart is a 4×4 grid that maps every Mii to one of 16 distinct personality types. Nintendo designed this system using four slider values — Movement, Speech, Energy, and Attitude — each ranging from 1 to 8. When you create a Mii in Tomodachi Life or Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the game combines these sliders to calculate where your character lands on the Tomodachi Life personality chart.
How the Tomodachi Life Personality Chart Works
Movement and Speech determine which column your Mii occupies on the chart (Considerate, Reserved, Outgoing, or Ambitious), while Energy and Attitude determine the row. This creates 16 unique combinations, each with its own name, traits, and in-game effects. The Overall slider has no effect on the personality result — it only changes cosmetic animations.
Personality Chart Effects on Gameplay
A Mii's position on the Tomodachi Life personality chart influences animations, apartment style, Tomodachi Quest performance, and even clothing color palettes in Living the Dream. Personality also affects compatibility between Miis — certain types naturally get along better, shaping friendships and relationships across your island.
Tomodachi Life Personality Chart: 3DS vs Switch
The Tomodachi Life personality chart structure is identical across both versions, but many names changed. For example, "Softie" became "Sweetie" and "Brainiac" became "Rogue" on the Switch version.
